I thought this book was good for the most part. The only issue I had was with the price versus the lack of editing. This book was too descriptive at some points, which made it feel slower than necessary. I really liked the characters, and storyline, so it's definitely worth a read. I usually get upset when people complain about editing issues, but those reviews are usually in reference to books that cost $2.99 or $3.99 at the most. I hope this author gets the opportunity to write more books!
Changing Shape is so deeply moving and thought provoking that I will have to read it again. The characters are so clear and real. I feel like they could be favorite neighbors and I miss them now that the book is finished. It's not often I read a work of fiction and come away actually learning something important. Thank you Kat for a great book. Now get busy on the next one...
I picked Changing Shape because the tittle intrigued me. And I wasn't disappointed. I have spent the last six months reading Lesfic genre and it never ceases to amaze me. The different perspectives on romance and life in this feild of literature. I myself am not a writer, but I have enjoyed this genre for the most part.
Kathleen Wheeler's book is one of the most realistic stories I have read. The characters or human and believable, the story line is taken from events that happen in real life. It doesn't hurt that the setting is in my home state of Colorado either. It talks about life and how we all change shape during out lives. I liked the way she approaches this topic.
Every book has a cadence, a rhythm, this one felt like a walk down a mountain logging road. It started out as an amble and picked up speed from there. I really enjoyed the walk. I am looking forward to her next book.
Something else I was impressed by is that Ms. Wheeler did the cover design which tells me she is a woman with lots of abilities in her tool box of life. And I liked the larger font of the print it made it so much easier to read for me.
I thought it was a well rounded novel and I enjoyed the story.
This is a story of well developed characters moving through life each with their own joys, conflicts and losses. Author, Kathleen Wheeler tackles some difficult situations with sensitivity cancer, grief and discovering ones identity. Enjoy the story and understand the process and resolution of moving through life. I recommend Changing Shape.
I found this book well written with perfect descriptions of each person. It held my interest from the very start!

As I read this book, I found myself getting into the story, enjoying the character portrayals and relationship building. The main characters were very well developed. The story pace was good.
Unfortunately, just as I was losing myself in the book, I would suddenly get caught by a tense error in the middle of the paragraph. At first they were few, but in certain parts of the book they started clustering. Part of me was tempted to forgive this. I have read lots of the self-published books and have overlooked just this kind of issue now and then when a good story crops up.
If this had been a $5 or less book, I might have let this go; however, the book was priced at a value that to me meant it should have impeccable editing and great grammar. What I could forgive for a book that asked me to pay less, I just simply couldn't forgive in this expensive a book. So, I found myself returning it.
I think different people likely have different levels of tolerance, so this is just my personal opinion on the price point versus quality of editing. With some work, this book can be worth the price the author is asking. The fact that the actual character development and storyline were well-created led me to give it three stars rather than anything less.
The story is very well tied up. The characters are deep. I also enjoyed the presence of two males characters who are really endearing (even if it's not what you look for in a lesbian novel it does not mean men don't exist ^^ ).
The way it is narrated is very good too you get easily in the story.
